Share My World Week 5

Where did you live at age five? Is it the same place or town you live now?
I lived in Aurora Colorado when I was five. I still live in Colorado but not in the same city anymore.

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met. Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?
I would consider going. I am very shy though so it would depend on the people that would be there. If it was just a bunch of random fascinating people I would be more inclined to go then if it was a bunch of fascinating famous musicians.

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?
I wouldn't consider Aurora to be a small or big town. I have seen small and Aurora comes no where close. It is not as big as Denver though. I loved growing up there. It still fills like home when I go back to visit friends.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was far from a normal child. When most kids wanted to be a Police Man, Fire Fighter, or Ballerina. I wanted to be a Geologist. Later on it became a toss up between that and a professional singer/violinist.

Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am grateful this week for my fiancé being home! Im looking forward to more sleep and putting up some Valentines Day decorations.

Leave your answers to these questions in the comments.

I really hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions or thoughts.

Five Minute Friday: Wait

Join us every Friday at http://katemotaung.com for the writing prompt and write for five minutes strait. No editing just writing from the heart.

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is wait.

GO

It amazes me how every word for the Five Minute Friday posts this year have fallen into my life perfectly. Waiting is one of the most frustrating traits for me. I am not a patient person. Lately it seems like everything I do or that is going on around me is requiring some sort of wait time. Sometimes it is as simple as waiting for my three year old to fall asleep at night. Other times it is as big as having to wait on life to go back to normal after a big event.

I watched a video recently that was about a mother with three kids that had her best friend coming through town. She had been waiting a long time to see her friend and she was so excited. Her friend only had a two hour layover so they were going to meet for dinner and catch up. This mother had a list of things that needed to be done that day and every time she started getting stuff done people would ask her to do things for them and she would do it. She was running late and let her friend know. By the time she got out the door her friend told her she ran out of time and had to board her plane. The mom came back in the house and tears started rolling down her face. As her son was saying an evening prayer with the family he said thank you for allowing them to finish everything they needed to get done that day. She then realized he was right. Even though this mom had waited for a long time to see her friend she was going to get that chance again somewhere down the road. She needed to be thankful that she accomplished all of the important things and without her realizing it made a difference for a lot of people.

It is amazing what a difference a little bit of extra time can do. The video was not a message about waiting but I think it can work just as well.

STOP

Here is the full video if you want to watch it.

Curmudgeons

Today people are celebrating or laughing about Free Thinkers Day, Corn Chip Day, Puzzle Day, and Curmudgeons Day. Free Thinkers Day started because today is Thomas Pains birthday. Corn Chip Day and Puzzle Day are both self explanatory. Today I am going to share Curmudgeons Day. If you want to read more details on the other three go to daysoftheyear.com.

When I first saw Curmudgeons Day I didn't know what the word even meant. For those anyone else who doesn't know the meaning as well, it means, a bad-tempered or surly person. Believe it or not this is an official holiday. Some people use it as an excuse to be in a bad mood and miserable. Others believe you should just stay home and do nothing. You do not have to be grumpy to celebrate it. You can mess with your friends and family or make it a goal to make a curmudgeon you know laugh or smile. Read more about it on the website above.

Has anyone else heard of the "holiday" before? If so, do you participate?

I really hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions or thoughts.

Movies and Music

I know I have talked about music a lot in the past. One of the other activities I love participating in is going to the movies. Im not sure if it is the popcorn or the limited distractions that draws me in but I love it! There are movies coming out this year that I am extremely excited for. One of which is already out, Night At The Museum, but I am waiting for it to hit our dollar movie theater. I loved those when I was younger and I am interested to see where they take this one.
Some movies I am excited for this year are:
Inside Out
Insurgent
Black or White
50 Shades of Grey
The Boy Next Door
The Wedding Ringer
Pitch Perfect 2

Most of which are out right now or come out soon.

What movie are you looking forward to this year?

Week 4 Struggling

I thought I did pretty good this week. However the scale didn't think so. Good news is I stayed at the same weight as last week, 237 lbs. Bad news I didn't lose any more. I am going to try to add more workouts into my schedule this week and continue eating well. By this weekend I should be able to add running back in to my weekly workouts too. This morning I had Eggs and Toast for breakfast. I also improved my water intake which is an ongoing struggle for me.

Any suggestions to keep the weight coming off?

Burning Down The House

Today's prompt is: Burning Down The House. Your home is on fire. Grab five items (assume all people and animals are safe). What did you grab?

With assuming everyone in the house is safe it makes this a little bit harder.

This is what I first thought of.
1. File of important documents in my file cabinet
2. Purse
3. My computer
4. Phone
5. Blanket

My computer doesn't seem like an important thing to grab but it has tons of pictures on it from my life that I would want to save.

What would you grab if your home was on fire?

Share My World Week 4

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

I had a hard time answering this one. I would probably want Chef Gordon Ramsay. I love watching Hell's Kitchen and Master Chef. It would be awesome to have him possibly give me cooking tips and ideas.

When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?
I sing to myself constantly. Especially when I am in the car alone. I got a karaoke machine for Christmas. When we mess around with it I pretend to be singing to people in the room. Most of the time it is jokingly though.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

I would wake up with the quality to stay motivated. I would love working out to be in my daily routine and me not be in so much pain after.

What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

I don't like when people joke around about death. Especially when it is regarding their own death.

Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for the members of my church. They have been so supportive and helpful. I am looking forward to my fiancĂ© being home for the first time since the 9th.

Leave your answers to these questions in the comments.

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog.

Five Minute Friday: Share

This weeks word is share.

GO

I laughed so hard when I saw the word for this weeks post. My daughter got a Sesame Street video game for Christmas. One of the episodes in the game is about sharing. Since she likes that episode the best I have had the song stuck in my had all day. I would say that sharing was one of the hardest lessons to teach my daughter. When she was little it was just me and her and when she started playing with other children she didn't want them anywhere near her toys. In the last six months she has definitely got better at sharing and she knows no matter what her toys will always be hers but it is nice to let her friends use them when they visit.

Celebration of Life Day

Today the silly celebration of, Hot Sauce Day, Answer Your Cat's Questions Day, and Celebration of Life Day take place. I can't really stand anything spicy and I'm allergic to cats so the first two are ruled out for me. However, there is nothing wrong with celebrating life! Today is a great day to step back and truly appreciate our children and grandchildren. Sometimes it is hard to remember that they make decisions for themselves, even if you influence those choices. Time flys! I never understood why my mom would tell me this until I had my own kid. It is definitely cool to look at what strengths my daughter already has even at age three.

Take time to appreciate your child or grandchild today. Maybe just giving them something as simple as a piece of candy or take them on an outing.

Check out https://www.daysoftheyear.com to read more about the other celebrations.

My First Memory

My first memory as a person is from the day my brothers were born. It isn't very big but it is kind of cool. I remember being at home with my grandparents while my parents were at the hospital. After they had been born we got a call saying we could come see them. All I remember is standing in front of our mirror/hat rack with my Papa. I was putting on a hat because that is what he was doing. I know he was standing behind me. I even remember the shirt he was wearing. That is the last thing I remember.

What is your first memory?

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Todays prompt is: Free association. Write down the first words that comes to mind when we say . . . home. . . soil. . . rain. Use those words in the title of your post.

Home is not where you live. Home is where you are most comfortable. It is where you are surrounded by people who love and care about you. Sometimes it can be hard when you leave home and start forming a new one. I am in the process of still making a new home. It can be hard sometimes when you move away from your parents and start building a life of your own. I was really happy this last week to have my mom here. She helped me pick out curtains for our house and it definitely is more comfortable now. I love the quote above because it is completely true. Even though you make a new home when you grow up it will always be the starting place of new memories.

What makes your home a home?

Share My World Week 3

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger?
I am a hugger if I know the person. I tend to be shy though so I don't go hug everybody.

What is your favorite ice-cream flavor?
My favorite ice-cream is either cookie dough or cookies and cream. I don't eat much ice-cream so I really have to be craving it.

Do you prefer exercising your mind or your body? How frequently do you do either?
Im not sure I know what exercising your mind consists of. I like doing mind puzzles if that counts and do them all the time. I can't say I like exercising my body but I know it is good for me. I try to to that at least 4 times a week.

Are you more of a dog person or a cat person? Why?
Definitely a dog person. I love playing dogs. Plus I am allergic to cats.

Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am grateful for the great surgeons here in Colorado. Im looking forward to hopefully a less stressful week and a lot of sleep.

Leave your answers to these questions in the comments.

Five Minute Friday: Send

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is send.

GO

These days we use technology as a way to communicate with people. We send and email or a text. Maybe you even just send a Facebook message to the people you need to talk to. We have slowly faded out writing and sending letters. I know that my mom gets so excited when my daughter sends her a letter. It is mostly consisting of just drawings but it still makes my moms day. Sometimes it is nice to get back to when electronics were not as advanced and write someone a personal letter and send it. I am sure it will make them smile.

END

I challenge you to write someone a letter this week. Who knows maybe they will write back to you.
Leave your five minute thoughts on the word send in the comments.

Do You Have A Favorite Hat?

Today we celebrate Hat Day and Strawberry Ice Cream Day.

I love strawberry ice cream especially with some chocolate syrup on top of it. Unfortunately I will not have any today as it does not fit into my eating plan. Everyone should go out and get some today and have a scoop for me.

I am not the biggest fan of hats but in honor of today my daughter let me borrow her hat.

Ten Things Hollywood Predicted 2015 Would Have

As some of you know when Back To The Future II was released back in 1989 They travel to the future to the year 2015. I thought this would be kind of a fun post to do since we have hit that year mark. A couple of these things might be accomplished this year but for the most part I think there will be a while before a lot of it happens.

1. Hoverboards

2. Flying Cars

3. Mr. Fusion - For those who don't know what this is. It is a machine that turns your garbage into energy.

4. Pepsi Perfect - I don't know if there is anything special to the Pepsi itself but it sure does look cooler.

5. Food Hydrator

6. Automatic Dog Walkers

7. Self Drying Jackets

8. Holographic Movie Posters

9. Phone Glasses

10. Power Laces -  This is the coolest one out of all of them in my opinion. Nike just released a stemming that these will be released sometime this year.

What would you be most excited to see happen?

First Week Check-in

This week has not been great on my diet. I ate out a lot and didn't get the greatest types of food. However, I weighed in this morning at 238 lbs. 4 lbs down from last week. This week I hope to do a little better but I am happy with the first week. This week I want to find more recipes that will be healthy and easy to prepare. When I get into my routine these post should be more interesting but with everything going on that hasn't happened yet.

If you have any favorite healthy recipes share them in the comments.

Story of Your Life

Todays prompt is :This is your life. If you could read a book containing all that has happened and will ever happen in your life, would you? If you choose to read it, you must read it cover to cover.

I think this would be a very tempting book to read. It would be full of surprises, good and bad times, heartache, and love. I think what this week has shown me the most is that the future holds things that you could never even dream of. At the end of the day I don't think I would want to read this book. You would know what the future holds. Not knowing is the most exciting part about life though.  I think if we live our life with no regrets and by being a role model for our kids, there would be no reason to open the book. Those things would make our life full and happy. At least I would be happy with how my life turned out.

Would you read the book if you could?

Share My World Week 2

How do you get rid of pesky phone calls from telemarketers?
I ignore them or answer and tell them to stop calling. Only a few times has it come to me blocking the number.

What are you a "natural" at doing?
I would say my ability to play instruments and sing come natural to me. I have always loved learning new instruments.

How often do you get a hair cut?
I would say I get a hair cut every 8 to 10 months. It should be around 5 or 6 months. However I just can't afford getting my hair done that often with how much I get done to it.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "fun"?
Family outings. Things like amusement parks and the zoo.

Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am grateful for having heat. This week has been extremely cold and snowy. Im looking forward to seeing my mom and spending time with her.

Leave your answers to these questions in the comments.

Five Minute Friday: Welcome

Five Minute Friday is back! My mind is drawing a bit of a blank this morning with me being quite distracted. The first word for 2015 is: welcome.

Go

This year has already started to fly by. I have wanted to welcome everyday with a smile and a positive attitude. Sometimes it is not that easy. I have been trying to be strong and I think today is the day I break down. Today my world is thrown up in the air and I put it in Gods hands, all I can do is hope for the best. So I guess for now I will just welcome all the things that come my way this year with an open mind.

Stop

Joy Germ Day

Today is Joy Germ Day, Bubble Bath Day, Argyle Day, Show and Tell Day at Work, and Earths Rotation Day. We are going to talk about Joy Germ Day! What a great day to share during the week that has turned into almost a stay positive week. Im sure I am no the only one that sees or hears the word germ and cringes just a little bit, especially with all the illnesses this year. Joy germs are a bit different. A joy germ is spread by smiling at people, making people laugh, or going out of your way to do something for someone. Go out and make the world a little bit better today and share joy with everyone you come in contact with.

NFL Playoffs

This picture was posted on the Broncos Facebook page last weekend as they prepare for their first playoff game of the season. I thought it was awesome. Now I am not into football much but everyone in my house is. Half the house is Bronco fans the other half is Patriots fans. In the next couple weeks it will be interesting to see which teams end up in the Superbowl. I would like to see the Broncos and the Cowboys to make it.

Who do you want to play in the Superbowl this year?

The Best Way To Respond To......

The best way to respond to the unexpected.

This week I am faced with probably one of the biggest challenges of my life. I can't share to many details on the situation as it is personal. When I first found out that I was going to have to go through this event I was terrified (and still am). One thing that is constantly going on in our house is preparing for the worst outcome. The problem with this upcoming situation is that I have no way of knowing what the outcome will be until it happens. The thing is there is no way to respond to the unexpected. All you can do is consider all the possibilities and hope for the best. Unfortunately life likes to through the unexpected into the mix at least a few times (At least in my case). I found a quote the other day that described my thinking perfectly. It was "Unexpected results and problems are part of life. Never lose hope in any condition because darkness of night is always followed by light."

Keep my family and I in your prayers this weekend. This is just one more chapter in my life and I plan on making the best of it as possible.

Staying Accountable

Today I am checking in with my progress. I have not stuck to my diet very well due to stress but over all I think I have done pretty well with not over doing it. I am going to use Mondays as a day to check in and share my progress or my week with you. I am hoping to restart my diet next Monday after the stress is hopefully gone.

My starting weight is 242 pounds. My goal is to be at 180 pounds by January 1st 2016.
Here is my starting picture.

Do you have a favorite quote that you return to again and again? What is it, and why does it move you?

I have talked about my all time favorite quote before so I am going to share one of my other favorites with you.

I always try to look at things positively even though often times I fail. I have always been the person to say life moves on. I can't change what happens.

What is a quote you live by?

Share My World Week 1

Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why
I love winter! I live in Colorado so we get snow every winter. I love the clean look of freshly fallen snow!

So, you're on your way out and it's raining. Do you know where your umbrella is or do you frantically search for it all over your apartment/house?
I know I have an umbrella in my car but I don't know where my umbrella in the house is. There for I probably wouldn't even spend time looking for one and book it to the car.

Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?
I used to be really picky about my food not touching. I still like it separated but Im not as picky about if it mixes.

What is set as the background on your computer?
It is a picture of Yosemite from the apple default backgrounds.

Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am grateful for having a fun holiday season. Im looking forward to all the snow this week.

Leave your answers to these questions in the comments.

Puzzels

Five Minute Friday is on vacation until next week so today I wanted to share a random story with you all. My family has a tradition of doing a puzzle each year between Christmas and New Years Day. My goal is to always finish it by January 1st. This year my aunt gave me a 1000 piece puzzle for Christmas, so it was perfect. I finished the puzzle this morning. Since day one of working on the puzzle there were two pieces we weren't sure went anywhere. Come to find out the puzzle was packaged with three sets of double pieces. In return it was missing three edge pieces. Over all it was very fun to put together.

Here is the final product:

Do you like doing puzzles or mind games? What is some of your favorites?

Happy New Year!

Year 2015!!!

Happy New year everyone. It has been a while since you have heard from me but I am back! I am excited to see this blog grow this year. I am bringing back some old themes as well as adding some new ones. There is so much happening this year, I am sure there will not be a dull moment. Last night at dinner I asked everyone what the best part of 2014 was..... Adam told me his favorite part was going to the circus. Then Crystal chimed in saying the circus too with all the clowns and bouncing elephants.... She is only three so she still doesn't quite understand. Amber said her favorite was going to Grand Junction for Thanksgiving and seeing a new part of the state. Steve and I both agreed that getting engaged was by far the best part of this year.

This year I am looking forward to my wedding the most. I am sure there are many more adventures awaiting me.

Today is known as commitment day. This day was made as an extension to resolutions since commitments are usually made to other people instead of to yourself. Each year I have a tradition to make three personal goals/resolutions. In honor of commitment day I will do two personal goals and one commitment.
This years goals are:
1. Live a healthier life. Healthier Eating habits. More workouts during the week. Better sleep schedule. All to work towards a weight loss of 60 lbs by this time next year.
2. I want to go to church more this year.
3. Make family dinner more often and spend more time with my daughter outside the house.

I don't think these are to unreasonable but wish me luck.

What is your new year resolution?

I really hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions or thoughts.
