What If I

Todays song is What If I by Jessi Smiles. I have seen her videos on vine for a while now but never knew she had such a great voice. This song hit the top 30 pop songs on iTunes in the first 24 hours.  This song is so inspirational.

The lyrics are:
What if its dark, What if I never finish what I start
What if the light that promised me the world just leaves me blind
What if the pain that comes my way is more then I can take
What if the heart that beats in me has something more to say, What if I let it lead the way
What if I could call on the sun, What if I could shine till there is nothing but love
What if I, What if I
What if I stand up and choose to believe that its all, yes its always been all up to me
What if I, What if I
What if the truth is true for me but not enough for you
What if Im brave but every move I make is made in vain
What if every lie, What if they're right, What if they push me till i quit
What if the image of a perfect girl is not something I can fit
What if I could call on the sun, What if I could shine till there is nothing but love
What if I, What if I
What if I stand up and choose to believe that its all, yes its always been all up to me
What if I, What if I
What if they see me standing tall
What if I can face them all
What if I can take every single tear take, every broken piece, get on my knees, make a brand new me, be free
What if I could call on the sun, What if I could shine till there is nothing but love
What if I, What if I
What if I stand up and choose to believe that its all, yes its always been all up to me
What if I, What if I
What if I could call on the sun, What if I could shine till there is nothing but love
What if I, What if I
What if I stand up and choose to believe that its all, yes its always been all up to me
What if I, What if I

Five Minute Friday: Nothing

I can not tell you how many times I use the word nothing in a weeks time. Whenever someone asks me what I am doing I almost always reply with nothing. In reality we are never doing nothing. I think the word nothing is used as a space filler these days. The last month has been really crazy with having no free time at all. Last weekend I had nothing scheduled. It was so nice having a weekend to just hang out at home. Everyone needs one day where they do nothing or having nothing planned.

This week I challenge you to plan a day for yourself. Comment below with what you would do on a day for yourself.

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

Sun

This week I am thankful for all the sun we have had this week. After having a weekend full of thunderstorms and hail I am glad this week has been so nice. I love the winter because I am all out the cold weather and the snow. Now that it is summer my daughter can play outside and we can set up her swimming pool. I also love that it is not pitch black when I leave for work anymore.

What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?

I hope you enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

Michigan

We got to fly to Michigan in September 2012. The trip was for my cousins wedding. It was the first wedding I had ever been to. My daughter was asked to be their flower girl. She was just over the age of one so she couldn't walk well. They were going to have her carried down the isle. During the dress rehearsal she was fine and made it all the way to the end of the isle. On the big day she didn't even make it to the beginning. It was such a fun trip though. The ceremony and reception was beautiful. I was glad I was able to be there for it. I also hope to go back sometime to see the state more. I hear the winters can be very harsh but it was beautiful when we were there.

Is there anything special that I should see in Michigan?

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

Memorial Day

Today is a day to celebrate our solders and loved ones who died while in our armed forces. I am fortunate enough that no one I know has died while fighting for our country. I have an Aunt currently in the Army and a Great Grandfather that served during Pearl Harbor. Make sure you take time today and think about someone you know that had died in the armed forces.

I hope everyone has had a good holiday weekend. I received a lot of rain and hail this weekend but I did not let that bring me down.

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

Media

At church today we talked about a subject I didn't really think about how much we are affected by it. We talked about media. It is hard as a parent to decide what the limits are when it comes to the media our kids are exposed to. Video games these days are even tricky. Everything is electronic. I am always doing something related to electronics on my down time. If I am not watching TV I am playing video games or using my computer. As I thought about it a lot of the shows I watch encourage bad behavior or bad language which is very disappointing.

Some of the questions they had us ask ourselves today were:

What are some rules you have in your household regarding media use?
What are some good things about media?
What can we do to keep or gain more of a spiritual home when it comes to media?

My goal is going to be to try and spend less time on electronics and more time being productive.
I would like to hear about some of your household rules when it comes to media.
Is there something you do in your house to keep your kids or yourself active and well rounded?

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

My Couch

Today's song is My Couch by Jake Miller.  I am completely like the girl described in this song. I would much rather stay at home and watch a movie or hang out at home then get all dressed up to go to the club or a bar.

The main part of the song goes like this:
She don't wanna go out
She'd rather chill in my house
All her friends are partying while we dinin' in watching
Netflix on my couch
She don't wanna go out
She just wanna come over, yea
Your friends are in the VIP but you don't need a ID to come
And kick it on my couch

I think that it helps that I don't drink. I have never found a point in being all uncomfortable and dressed up with tons of makeup on while being out and about, when I could be at home in sweat pants and a t-shirt.

What would you choose to do?
Do you have a favorite thing to do outside your house?

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

Five Minute Friday: Close

Often there are many days where I wonder if I will ever get close to being the person I grew up wanting to be. I always get ideas that could really be fun and keep me busy. However I do not ever come close to completing those ideas. As my daughter gets older I want to be able to have a close relationship with her. I love how close she wants to be to me at the age she is now. I love coming home from work and having her crawl up into my lap. I become more of an adult every day. As I grow and learn I grow closer to my goal. Today I want to challenge everyone to do something in the next week to bring them closer to accomplishing a goal. If you can't do that then develop a closer relationship with someone you care about. That is what I am challenging myself to do this week.

Please leave comments below with your goals and how you are accomplishing them.

Television

I am thankful for the television this week. Sometimes it is nice to come home and just relax. The final episode of American Idol was last night. It was entertaining. I decided to start watching the whole PSYCH series from the beginning.

Are there any shows that help you unwind?

I want to try to get my readers more involved. Please start leaving comments. I look forward to reading every single one of them.

Dreams

I can not tell you how many times I have been unmotivated to go to work or school. In the last month this feeling has occurred at least once a week. I have to keep reminding myself that if I want to give my daughter a good life and be able to work by doing something I love, I need to keep working where I am at and finish school. Even though you may have unplanned road blocks occur. It is never to late to make a dream reality. Just never stop working towards that dream.

What is your dream?

Change

I loved this quote. We all have made mistakes. We all have at least one thing we wish we could go back and change. You can always affect the way your future turns out but the past is the past. Learn from your mistakes and move forwards.

What is something you can do to make your future better?

Saturdays and Sundays

I thought this song was perfect for today. I had to work today so today was like my Saturday. The song today is called Saturday and Sunday by KSM.

Monday Morning, Here we go again
Weekend is over, No more sleepin in

Responsibilities, All that I see
A five day work week, Up ahead of me

I don't like tuesdays, unless it's summer holiday
If I can make it to friday, Then things can start goin my way

Saturdays sundays, Are my favorite days
Who needs mondays, Anyway
Gotta plan your escape, You only get forty eight
Live it up nonstop, Just can't get enough

Saturdays sundays mondays no way, Tuesday wedensday
Can't wait for friday

Summer vacation, You know I'm waitin
But until then, Got to be patient
Take the week off, Sounds good to me
But that's fiction, And not reality

I don't like tuesdays, unless it's summer holiday

If I can make it to friday, Then things can start goin my way

Saturdays sundays, Are my favorite days
Who needs mondays, Anyway
Gotta plan your escape, You only get forty eight
Live it up nonstop, Just can't get enough

Saturdays sundays mondays no way, Tuesday Wednesday
Can't wait for friday

Call up your best friends

Crank up the KSM
It's time to start it up yea
Because you know you love

Saturdays sundays mondays no way
Tuesday wedensday
Can't wait for friday

Saturdays sundays mondays no way
Tuesday Wednesday
Can't wait for friday

Saturdays sundays, Are my favorite days
Who needs mondays, Anyway
Gotta plan your escape, You only get forty eight
Live it up nonstop, Just can't get enough

Saturdays sundays, Are my favorite days
Who needs mondays, Anyway
Gotta plan your escape, You only get forty eight
Live it up nonstop, Just can't get enough

Enjoy your weekends and don't do anything stupid. Just have fun. I get to spend the weekend with friends and hopefully my brother.

What are you going to do this weekend?

Five Minute Friday: Bright

The lady who usually posts the word for the five minute friday post has not done so today. Since it is already hitting 8PM I decided I would pick my own word today. I grabbed my Apples to Apples game and picked a random card. The word was bright, so that is going to be todays word.

When I hear the word bright I think of the sun, my alarm going off on my phone at 4:30AM for work, or how smart someone might be.  I think it is so strange how in the last month the sun is almost up by the time I get to work and before it was pitch black outside. Today my daughter and I went through the alphabet flashcards and I was so impressed with how many letters she can already identify. She was able to tell me about have of the letters without help. Did I mention she is only two. She is definitely my brightest star and I am so glad she is part of my life. I hope everyone has an amazing weekend. My it put some brightness in your life as you prepare for this next week.

My Apple Computer

I got my new laptop about three weeks ago. The reason I am so thankful for this computer is because when I went to get on my old one and take some stuff off of it, the computer completely crashed. I was lucky enough to be able to retrieve my pictures and videos.

Do you like PC or MAC better? Tell me your experience with both.

East Coast Part Two

This week I get to share the rest of my adventure on the East Coast. We made a stop in North Carolina. We got to stay at this bed and breakfast in the historical district called the The Lions Gate. This building was so beautiful. My friend Madi and I spent an afternoon just taking pictures in different parts of the yard. The inside was even more amazing. One day we went and looked around Duke University. The campus was so pretty. The church on campus was amazing. I wish I would have done better in school to be able to go to a school like that. I loved how green it was there too! The remainder of the trip we spent in NYC! We stayed at the Marriott on Time Square. We saw Wicked on Broadway which was amazing! We went and saw the Ground Zero site which was also amazing. We visited the giant hershey's store and M&M's store. We also stopped at Madame Tuscans Wax Museum. These figures were so cool and looked so life like. There was a Brittany Spears one that looked like it was breathing. Last but not least, we had the chance to see, my favorite band at the time, The Jonas Brothers perform on the Today Show. We were about three feet from the stage. Even though we had to get up super early. It was totally worth it. There was so much to see and not enough time so I do want to go back someday.

Have you ever been to NYC? What was your favorite part?

Acceptance

I saw this quote today and thought it was very inspirational. Not only the quote but Michael J. Fox is an inspirational man. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991. He did not let that stop him from doing what he loves. He continued acting. In fact he started The Michael J Fox show in 2013.

Do not let anything stand in the way of you living your dreams.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

Today give your mom a big hug and thank her for being part of your life. If you aren't able to give her a hug at least make a phone call. I want to thank all mothers out there for everything they do. In the last three years I have definitely had more respect for my mother now that I have a child of my own.

This last week has been very stressful. Work has been very frustrating and on top of that I have been sick. There is not much more to say then what is already in the picture above.

Zac Brown Band

Today I want to share one of my favorite concert experiences. I went and saw Zac Brown Band last year at Red Rocks Amphitheater. If you have never been to Red Rocks in Colorado you should definitely go. Not only is it BEAUTIFUL but for a concert the sound is amazing! One of my favorite songs is Colder Weather. I love how this band still has the original country sound to them. Even though it was freezing the night we went and the hike up to the amphitheater kicked my butt it was so worth it and I would see them again.

Have you been to Red Rocks?

Daughter

Today I am definitely thankful for my daughter. It has been a fairly rough week at work. When I came home today Crystal was such a huge help. I was able to cuddle with her most of the night. She sat on my lap and asked to take pictures with me. She also begged me to sing with her. I love her very much!

East Coast Part One

This post is going to be two parts. Part two will be posted next Tuesday. One of the most exciting trips I have ever taken took place in June of 2009. I had the opportunity to travel and visit multiple states on the East Coast for two and a half weeks with my friend Madi and her family. As vivid as most of the trip still is, I can not remember the exact order of where we traveled. We flew into New York and drove to Pennsylvania. While we were driving, not far from the shore line, we found a turtle in the middle of the road. We stopped and picked it up to release it back into the water. I was so pretty and green there. We also were able to go to Canada. Crossing the border was very interesting. We were able to spend a few days at Niagara Falls. We took a boat up pretty close to the falls. It was amazing. At night they would light up the falls in different colors. I hope I am able to go back someday.  From there we went to Boston. Our hotel was right on the coast. We spent a few days there as well. We spent a day at the Boston Aquarium, which I thought was really well designed. I took so many pictures of penguins and seals. My favorite animal was the giant sea turtle. It was at least as long as an average human. We then spent two days doing the Freedom Trail. We decided to do the tour guides, which made the trail a lot more interesting and gave me more information then I would have learned on my own. The guides even dress up. We saw graveyards where multiple presidents were buried along with Paul Revere. I would definitely recommend you do the Freedom Trail tours if you ever visit Boston.

Below are some pictures from the three places above.

Have you ever been to any of the places above? What was your favorite part?

Always watching

We live in a world full of different beliefs and different people. Some people believe in different gods. When it comes down to it, no matter what you believe in or what you worship, most people believe someone is looking out for them. It is very easy to let the worldly things consume us. I can tell you that it is a lot easier for me to sit at home and watch tv or play video games rather then get dressed and go to church. It happens to everyone. There are also people in the world that do not believe there is a god. Sometimes those people will try to tear you down. As long as you always keep in mind that there is someone looking out for you, those people can't bring you down.

This topic reminds me of a song that I loved when I was younger. "Someone's Watching Over Me" by Hillary Duff.  It says, So I won't give up. No I won't break down. Sooner than it seems life turns around. And I will be strong. Even if it all goes wrong. When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe. Someone's watching over me.

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestion and thoughts.

My Day

My Day by Danielle Bradbery has been a song being played a lot in my car lately. I was not a very big fan of hers until I saw her in concert a couple weeks ago. She is an amazing performer and very good live.

Lyrics
Like a lotus flower growing in the dirt
Ain't nobody ever noticed what it's worth
'Til the sun shines and the rain falls and
In no time it all is beautiful

This is my day, this is my day
Ohhhh, won't let it slip away
Oh, waiting for these changes to say, this is my day

There's a voice inside that's trying to be heard, hmmm
And it's echoing across the universe
If you listen, it'll lead you to that place you've always been running to

This is my day, this is my day
Ohhhh, won't let it slip away
Oh, I'm waiting for these changes to say, this is my day

I always saw it coming
A little light behind the clouds
This is the start of something
My heart believes it now

This is my day, this is my day
Oh, won't let it slip away
Oh, this is my day, this is my day
Oh, won't let it slip away
Oh, I'm waiting for these changes to say
This is my day, this is my day,

Ohhh, my day.
Like a lotus flower growing in the dirt

It is amazing how everyday can be different. I challenge you to wake up everyday with the thought of today is my day and no one can bring me down.

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

Five Minute Friday: Mess

I feel like my life has been a mess in the last month. With my mom moving I have been bringing a lot of stuff home with me and still do not have places for everything. Everywhere I turn there are boxes of something. Having a new job on top of it I have been trying really hard to not miss any work. The house has come down with a bug which is no fun. I am really hoping that in the next month things start to settle down. Then I will have more time to relax and feel like everything is less crazy. On a normal day I feel like my daughter enjoys pulling all her toys out of her room just so she can throw them back in her room on the floor.

Do you ever feel like you are overwhelmed with a mess of things in your life? How do you deal with it?

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thought.

Sick Kids

Sorry for being delayed on this post. We have had some sort of illness going around my house. I was very sick yesterday morning. I then had to drive to Denver to attend the CNI Cindy Acree Hope Awards. It was a nice night. I made it back home and fell asleep around midnight. Then had the pleasure of being woken up around one because my daughter's tummy was hurting. She asked me to kiss it better and then she went back to sleep. After two more of these she actually got sick in bed. Best part is it was only 3:30AM!

Needless to say I am very thankful for all those moms out there who have raised kids, or stayed home with sick ones. It is not an easy job. I hate not being able to do anything for her.

Does anyone have any tips for taking care of a sick (almost) three year old and making them feel better?

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.
